A charming way to serve your tapas or party dips, these smaller cazuelas are made by hand and measure approximately 3cm deep and 15cm in diameter. Enjoy the versatility of baking in these traditional terracotta dishes: they are the perfect size for an individual flan with a crispy carmelised topping. We also love to warm these cazuelas in advance to serve steaming stews or sautéed garlic prawns! Our cazuelas are made in Catalunya, near Breda, from a distinctive clay that has been in demand since the days of ancient Rome. The local potters craft these museum-quality cazuelas using ancient techniques. You’ll find the handles are entirely handcrafted and each dish is unique. A beautiful clear glaze is applied during the second firing stage and creates a food- and liquid-ready seal which is certified as lead-free and food safe.
Here are a few notes about cooking in your cazuela: Prior to baking, we advise that you soak your dishes in water for about two hours to “season,” and then your cazuelas are ready for the oven, stove, or microwave. It is always wise to apply gradual heat when cooking with terracotta to assure that your dishes remain sound.
