This beautiful bota will last a lifetime, and is perfect for carrying wine to outdoor events and family festivities.Some forty different phases are involved in the fabrication of this traditional bota, esteemed as the very best. Supple, oil-cured goat skin is cut by hand and then carefully stitched for a closely pleated seal. On the interior surface, the pitch is spread and then heated to establish a durable, water-tight resin. The bota wineskin is then stitched and finished. We would like to share some helpful guidance about how to prepare your pitch-lined bota wineskin for its first use. (Please note, these extra steps are not necessary for the latex-lined bota). To neutralise the strong initial flavour of the pitch lining, warm the bota in the sun, thus spreading the pitch evenly. After sufficient warming, you then blow into your wineskin to inflate it, thus parting the sides. Fill the bota with cold water for curing and set aside for a few days. Then substitute your water with an inexpensive wine and allow to cure for as long as possible. When ready, discard this wine and fill your cured bota with a fine Spanish wine of your choice.
